Florida State football has had a rough 24 hours. A demoralizing loss to rival Miami has left the fan base in tatters. Even worse, a rambling, drinking Kirk Herbstreit admonished FSU players for talking trash during FSU vs Miami, a series known for civility, good natured banter, and friendly handshake lineups:
Y’all can hate this man, but he’s 100 percent correct. You gotta blame the players, but can’t excuse the coaches either pic.twitter.com/R9cQnyN4xO

It appears that the losses aren’t going to be just on the field. Aside from a decommitment from Herbstreit, FSU has lost a 2020 commitment.
2020 DB Derek Bermudez has decommitted from FSU. A three star from Jacksonville’s Sandalwood, Bermudez is a teammate of the de facto leader of FSU’s 2020 class, QB Jeff Sims.
Bermudez detailed his reasons in a tweet:

While Bermudez did not cite FSU’s on field struggles as a factor in reopening his recruitment, it is likely this played a factor. Even if it not, it will be discussed as the factor by fans - and deservedly so. This is the second decommitment in 3 weeks for Willie Taggart, following a 1-3 conference stretch featuring two losses to rival Clemson Tigers and Miami Hurricanes.
This likely won’t be the last departure from the 2020 recruiting class, and it definitely won’t be the last drunk rant from a 50 year old man about FSU’s players “chirping”.
