The waiting is over, and Florida State finally knows its NCAA Tournament draw. The Seminoles, as we’ve reported for quite some time, have indeed been sent to the West region, where the 1-seed is the Gonzaga Bulldogs and the 2-seed is the Michigan Wolverines, and the 3-seed is the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
The ’Noles are the 4-seed, and will open play in Hartford against the Vermont Catamounts from the America East Conference on Thursday— a venue quite close to the lower-seeded UVM, which has raised some questions. That game will tip off on Thursday at 2 pm on TBS. If FSU survives, it will move on to the round of 32 to face the winner of 5-seed Marquette and 12-seed Murray State. Also in the West? The 10-seed Florida Gators.
Florida State’s seed improved pretty much continuously as the season wore on, as the Seminoles won 14 of their final 16 games, including a second victory over NCAA Tourney 4-seed Virginia Tech and an upset of 1-seed Virginia during a run to the ACC title game.
