(5) Florida State (23-8) will face the 12th seeded Bucknell Bison (28-5) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Charlotte, NC. The game is scheduled to tip at 4pm on Friday, March 22. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2. The Bison won the Patriot League Championship defeating American University 66-54 in the Patriot League Tournament final.
If the Noles get past the Bison they would play the winner of the (4) South Carolina and (13) Belmont game. This subregion will be played in Charlotte, NC rather than Columbia, SC due to an arena conflict at South Carolina’s home arena. This would obviously be a big break for FSU if the Seminoles did meet the Gamecocks in the second round as the Noles would not have to beat the Gamecocks on their home court.
Florida State and Bucknell have played only one common opponent. On Nov. 18th Bucknell lost in Syracuse 70-56. FSU fell to the Orange 94-88 in Tallahassee on Feb, 28th.
The Bison feature a balanced offense with three players averaging in double figures but no one scoring more than 13 points a game. We will have much more on Bucknell coming up in advance of the game.
