Update: Florida State rose nicely, up to No. 14 in the new AP Poll and No. 13 in the Coaches Poll. The ’Noles are also up to No. 19 in the NET Rankings.
It wasn't a terribly hectic week on the hardwood, but the No. 18 Seminoles took care of business in home contests against Notre Dame and NC State and should probably see a nice bump in the polls.
No. 3 Duke, No. 4 Kentucky, and No. 6 Michigan State all lost a game, but they’re not going to dip far enough to affect Florida State. No. 8 Houston lost at home to unranked UCF, just the Cougars’ second loss all season, and that’ll drop them some, but again, they should remain ahead of the ’Noles.
No. 10 Marquette could be a different story. The Golden Eagles lost a pair of games to unranked teams, and should be penalized significantly. No. 12 Nevada is also going to fall after losing at unranked Utah State.
FSU should jump the teams right in front of them, as No. 16 Kansas State lost to No. 15 Kansas and No. 17 Maryland went 0-2 against Penn State and No. 9 Michigan. No. 20 Virginia Tech will be a squad to watch, as the Hokies topped the Blue Devils in their lone contest. As a result, they could pass the Seminoles.
Florida State was No. 17 in the Coaches Poll last week, and entered Monday ranked 17th by KenPom. FSU’s most recent NET ranking is 20th.
