Set to open the season against Boise State this year, and having played Alabama and Ole Miss in recent years, Florida State is sticking with their trend of scheduling marquee out-of-conference games by announcing a home-and-home series with the Georgia Bulldogs for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.

Florida State fans will get the opportunity to watch their Seminoles take on the Dawgs inside Doak Campbell to open the 2027 season, as opposed to neutral site games that have become popular as of late. The ’Noles will then travel to Athens on September 16th, 2028.

Florida State regularly schedules strong out-of-conference opponents and interim AD David Coburn said via press release that this is a continuation of that tradition.

“We are excited to announce this series and showcase our commitment to providing games in Doak Campbell Stadium that will be attractive for our fans,” interim director of athletics David Coburn said. “Our non-conference schedule is among the strongest in the country with an annual game against Florida in addition to regular matchups with Notre Dame, and this series with Georgia fits the criteria for how we want to build future schedules. I also want to thank Coach Taggart for his commitment to facing high-quality opponents that will excite fans and continue to strengthen Florida State’s place among the preeminent programs in the country.”

The matchup is the first regular season meeting between the two programs since 1965 and is sure to draw a large national audience on opening weekend.

Georgia currently leads the series, with six wins to Florida State’s four. The last time the two teams faced off was the 2003 Sugar Bowl, which Georgia won 26-13.
