FSU’s Fredrick Jones continuing family tradition with New York Jets

Legacy status renewed.

Fredrick Jones

Fredrick Jones made the most of his time at Florida State. An unheralded three-star recruit who only received scholarship offers from FSU, Western Kentucky, and Fordham, Jones was initially seen by many as a legacy take, as the nephew of Seminole legend Marvin Jones.

But Jones made his own name in Tallahassee, working his way into quality minutes with the ’Noles and appearing in 46 games and starting 10. He amassed 67 tackles at defensive tackle, 8 of which were for loss, and 2.5 sacks. Jones (6’2, 305) also knocked down three passes. He provided quality depth on Florida State’s defensive front— and now he’ll look to do the same in the Big Apple, as he’s signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent. Once again, he’ll be following his uncle, as Marvin Jones, of course, spent his entire 10-year All-Pro career with the Jets.

Keep checking back with our tracker to see where all of FSU’s undrafted free agents wind up.
