The Florida State Seminoles (28-15, 14-10) went 4-1 on the week with two mid-week wins over Stetson and a weekend series win over Wake Forest. The improvement in the last few weeks was enough to have FSU back in D1Baseball’s Top 25. The ‘Noles check into the RPI at 57 heading into a week off for finals.

Noteworthy

  • Georgia had a rough week. Starting at No. 4 the Bulldogs fell to Georgia Tech to lose the series against their rival and then were swept by Mississippi State. Over their last four game this week they were outscored 42-17 but that’s generally what happens when you give up at least six runs in every game. The Bulldogs dropped five spots this week and host Florida this weekend.
  • Georgia Tech continues to rise in the polls as the Yellow Jackets join Louisville in the top 10. North Carolina, NC State, Miami and Florida State are all ranked giving the ACC six entrants in this week’s poll, just two shy of the SEC’s eight. How long with NC State be ranked though? Following this week’s loss to Notre Dame the Wolfpack have lost three straight series. Thankfully for them they host Radford next week and then Clemson, who finally won an ACC game after losing 11 straight, before closing the season at North Carolina.
  • Texas Tech rebounded and in a big way. The Red Raiders lost a series at West Virginia in which neither team was particularly offensively minded, fell at Duke in the mid-week and then lost their opening game to Baylor before taking the series. Apparently Oklahoma State bore the brunt of their frustration as Tech won by scores of 12-4, 10-2 and 5-2. Maybe the Red Raiders are peaking at the right time as they finish up with a strong team in Oklahoma and a talented one in TCU.
