The Seminoles rebounded extremely well on Friday night after the beating they took less than 24 hours earlier. FSU jumped out to a 6-1 lead after 3 innings and cruised to a 14-3 victory over the Cards. The win gives the no. 22 Seminoles (35-19, 17-12 ACC) a chance to win the series and secure a postseason birth while the no. 9 Louisville Cardinals (42-13, 20-9 ACC) are trying to earn the number one seed in the ACC Tournament.
Three Up
- The Seminoles chased the Louisville’s starting pitcher after just 2.1 IP in which he allowed 6 runs on 9 hits. Two of those hits were homeruns off the bat of Mat Nelson. The catcher would finish the night reaching base four times, driving in four runs and scoring four runs.

- Florida State racked up 16 hits in total on Friday night and it was a total team effort. Mike Salvatore led the way with 4 hits and J.C. Flowers reached base 5 times. Seven of the nine starters had at least one hit and Carter Smith drove in two with a pinch hit single. Seven different players plated a run and seven different players drove in at least one run.
- Starter C.J. Van Eyk had a quality start and kept a potent Louisville offense in check. The righty sat down 8 Cards and issued only one walk over six innings. In his last four starts the sophomore has struck out 37 batter and is pitching his best when it matters most. Jonah Scolaro was almost flawless in 3 innings of relief as he struck out 4 and didn’t allow a hit.
- BONUS UP: No errors for the defense.
Three Down
- No downs tonight for a team that played fantastic.
