Florida State baseball isn’t getting the longest odds to win the 2019 College World Series. But it’s close. The Seminoles have steamrolled through the NCAA Tournament, winning five games, all against higher-seeded teams, without a single blemish. But they’ve still got their doubters— which has been a formula for success so far.
The latest Vegas odds out of Caesar’s Palace have the ’Noles with the second-smallest chance to dog-pile in Omaha. Fittingly, the only team with worse odds than FSU is Michigan. The Wolverines, like the Seminoles, were one of the last teams into the tourney, and made their way to Nebraska on the road as a 3-seed.
FSU has anything but an easy opener, per the handicappers in Vegas: Arkansas is a co-favorite, along with fellow Southeastern Conference school Vanderbilt. But the ’Noles have made their way to the CWS by vanquishing Georgia and LSU from the SEC— something’s gotta give.
