Florida State football, recruiting news: Jeff Sims gets The Opening roster spot

Plus, FSU baseball’s College World Series run comes to an end

Recruiting:

2020 quarterback commit Jeff Sims will be participating in The Opening Finals in a few weeks, just a few days after taking part in the Elite 11 Finals (at which he earned spot by earning MVP honors at the Orlando Opening regional). Here’s the squad he’ll playing alongside:

Henry Parrish Jr., a three-star running back out of Miami, has chosen Pitt over Miami, Florida State, Oregon and Penn State, amongst others:

Football:

The finer details of the matchup between Florida State and Alabama State this November were released, with the Hornets set to earn $400,000 for playing the game, along with an extra $25,000 should the school bring their band along.

Basketball:

The full list of invitees to the NBA Draft room was released Wednesday, with former Florida State forward Mfiondu Kabengele amongst the 22 other names expected to be called in the draft’s opening rounds tonight:

Terance Mann is also hoping to hear his name called, a possibility even more likely after the guard’s strong showings in pre-draft workouts. Here’s a nice story on the upside of Mann as a second-round pick, with Mann declaring himself the best on-ball defender in the draft.

Baseball:

A miracle run to the College World Series ran out of gas against Texas Tech last night, with the Seminoles’ bats once again struggling to get going out in Omaha. Courteney Korosec has the on-scene breakdown from Mike Martin’s final game.

Golf:

Junior Amanda Doherty and freshmen Frida Kinhult and Beatrice Wallin were all named to the All-ACC Academic Women’s Golf Team on Wednesday.
