Tre’ McKitty is now the third Seminole skill player and fourth player overall to be named to an award watch list this pre-season, joining running back Cam Akers (Walker, Maxwell), wide receiver Tamorrion Terry (Biletnikoff), and defensive tackle Marvin Wilson (Bednarik).
McKitty started ten games last season, catching 26 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns. That may not sound like a lot but his receptions ranked fourth among all ACC tight ends. McKitty has also proven valuable to his quarterbacks as a security blanket. His 11.6 yards per catch average last season also led all ACC tight ends. If McKitty is awarded the Mackey after the season he would be the first FSU player to do so since Nick O’Leary.
