Florida State just got its biggest commitment of the 2020 cycle as four-star running back Jaylan Knighton has committed to FSU. Knighton is considered to be FSU’s top target on its running back board and today they closed the deal.
At 5’9 194lbs Knighton is a speed demon from Deerfield Beach High School out of Deerfield Beach, Florida. Jaylan ranks 94th nationally, 3rd at his position, and 14th within the state of Florida in 247’s National Composite Rankings.
Knighton chose FSU over offers from Ohio State, Clemson, Miami, Alabama, and Oklahoma. After he decommitted from Oklahoma in January Knighton’s recruitment really began to heat up.
Many thought he would head to Clemson, then FSU, then Ohio State following a June official visit but this weekend’s SNL visit sealed the deal for Florida State. He’s now FSU’s top-rated verbal edging out corner-back commitment Demorie Tate following his bump from his performance at The Opening.
Knighton is a speed demon with great balance, good power and is an absolute terror in the open field. He’s a perfect fit for what Coach Taggart & Coach Briles want to do at FSU. Don’t be surprised if he hurdles a player or two during his time at Florida State:
He is the 20th commitment for FSU’s 2020 recruiting class which now features 10 blue-chip commitments and is now 11th nationally; just ahead of Oklahoma and just behind Florida. Not bad when you’re coming off 5-7.
