Florida State football, recruiting news: FSU to technically sell alcohol at games

Plus, a new accolade for an FSU recruiting target

Five-star outside linebacker Sav’ell Smalls, an FSU target, will be playing in the Under Armor All-American Game:

Football:

DeCalon Brooks, Cory Durden, Dennis Briggs and Ricky Aguayo spoke with the media after practice at IMG Academy yesteday, and their interviews can be seen here.

In addition, the Seminoles had some special visitors yesterday — Derrick Brooks and Tony Dungy.

Here’s a good story on defensive lineman Cedric Wood, who is looking to bounce back from an off-the-field injury that included severing a major artery and 10 tendons.

We’re 16 days away from a new Florida State football season, so let’s wallow in the misery of last year as much as we can by realizing even further how putrid the Seminoles’ offense was:

CBS Sports released its all-time All-America Team and Deion Sanders and Sebastian Janikowski were first-teamers, while Fred Biletnikoff, Peter Warrick, Derrick Brooks, Terrell Buckley and Deion Sanders (as a punt returner) were all honorable mentions.

Florida has an opening in its non-conference schedule in 2023, and Miami might be the school to fill it.

FSU announced that it would be selling beer and wine during the 2019 season...except with some certain stipulations.

Basketball:

Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton joined college basketball podcast Marching to Madness to talk the Seminoles’ new roster, Trent Forrest, M.J Walker, FSU’s non-conference schedule and plenty of other fun topics.

The FSU College of Law won two awards from the American Bar Association, the Student Bar Association Award, which honors the best SBA in the nation and the 2019 Judy M. Weightman Memorial Public Interest Award for outstanding contributions to underrepresented groups or public interest causes
