While the FSU football team was keeping their playoff hopes alive with an overtime win vs Louisiana somebody, the Seminole basketball team was hosting a high profile JUCO wing. The visit must have gone well for Sardaar Calhoun, as he committed to FSU on Tuesday.

Calhoun plays for Missouri State-West Plains. At 6-6 he’s got great size on the perimeter. He was also a knock down shooter as a freshman, hitting 43% of his 3s. For the year he scored 17.6 points per game to go along with 5.0 rebounds. He made four or more 3s in a game 11 times.

The concern with Calhoun was that his recruiter was recently departed Dennis Gates (now the head coach at Cleveland State), but apparently the family atmosphere paid off.

Calhoun is a huge Dwayne Bacon fan, and was at the 2016 New Year’s Eve game where Bacon pretty much crushed UVA’s dreams all by himself. It was after that game that Calhoun joked to Coach Gates that maybe he could be the next Dwayne Bacon.

He joins Zimife Nwokeji in the 2020 class.

He has taken an official visit to Seton Hall, and planned on Alabama, Texas, and Georgia in the coming weeks.
