Willie Taggart on Clemson prep, kicker competition, and overall improvement

Florida State football coach Willie Taggart spoke with the media on a variety of topics prior to the Seminoles’ short media viewing period during Monday morning’s practice.

The Seminoles have two weeks to prepare to face the No. 2 ranked Clemson Tigers on the road. As kickoff looms, Taggart addressed how Florida State will attack its game preparation. He said, “I think you have to do both. It’s a great Clemson team, so you can’t practice just one week and think you’re going to knock them off. We’ve got to work on us. We have to understand Clemson and what they are doing, but we’ve got to really work on us. I’ve said it before, but it will always be that way: it’s about Florida State. We’re going to need to be at our best against Clemson at their place.” He further emphasized that “this bye week practice is going to say a lot about our football team and where we’re at.”
