The No. 5 Florida State men’s basketball team is one of the hottest in the country. And while the Seminoles have won nine consecutive games, they’ve certainly still room to improve on the court. But as far as NCAA Tournament projections go, the ceiling is approaching.
The ’Noles have climbed another seed line in ESPN’s bracketology projection, as Joe Lunardi now has FSU as the 2-seed in the West, opeing play in Tampa against 15-seed Winthrop.
This draw could have Florida State meeting Gonzaga, in LA, in the tourney for the third straight year.
CBS Sports concurs about the seed and opening venue but has FSU in the Midwest. The prospect of getting Butler in Indianapolis is not exactly ideal.
Bracket Matrix agrees with this projection, too. Across 96 brackets, the Seminoles average out as the second 2-seed, behind Duke and ahead of Michigan State and West Virginia.
Team Rankings is a little more cautious about the ’Noles, slotting them in as the second 3-seed currently but also projecting that their most likely seed is on the 2-line. That site gives FSU a 10.3% shot at the Final Four, and a 1.7% chance to win it all.
