For the first time since taking down Boston College in 2007, the Florida State Seminoles earned a top 5 win while being unranked themselves.
Just a few weeks after a shellacking by the hands of the Miami-Florida Hurricanes, FSU stormed out to a 24 point lead on the No. 5 team in the country and finished off the game on the back of its much-maligned defense.
As we saw when the Seminoles nearly lost that lead, however, there are still needs and issues to be corrected — something Mike Norvell is aware of himself.
“We still have a long way to go,” he said Saturday, [we] still had a lot of mistakes that showed up. We have to show poise and control in every situation. I thought we had some foolish things there in the second half that are going to get cleaned up...but our guys are giving everything that they have.
“Obviously we’re not perfect, we still make mistakes. We’re a work in progress. But when you get a chance to see growth, when you see improvement and investment...”
The double JMs (Juan Montalvo and Jon Marchant) join Tim to break down the game, gleaning the bright spots and seeing what the next steps are to correcting the issues holding Florida State back.
