Florida State Seminoles Football Transfer Portal Talk - Version 4

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Give the people what they want!

Here is the fourth edition of Transfer Portal Talk! We just finished up the Early Signing Period (ESP) period and finally have some clarity as to how many transfers FSU can fit into this class. FSU signed 16 players during the ESP with the late addition of Malik McClain, Merry Flipmas, ya filthy Animals! And that leaves them with room for about 9 scholarships between transfers and February signees.

On the recent 247 Noles podcast, they mentioned that FSU could sign 26 this period, but this is an evolving situation and is not set in stone. For the purposes of these numbers, I am going with the NCAA hard cap of 25 players.

FSU secured a high-level QB in McKenzie Milton (KZ), and that should put the Noles in a good spot to land some quality transfer players moving forward.

If FSU can sign Destyn Hill and Kimo Makaneole in February that leaves room for about 7 transfers, including KZ.

Here are some portal transfer players to keep an eye on:

QB

QB transfer recruiting has concluded with KZ signing with FSU. 2021 just became a more interesting year than it would have been because of KZ.

  • QB McKenzie Milton - from UCF. Once a superstar player in the college ranks before a terrible knee injury. WE HAVE OUR QB FOR 2021.

RB

I don't think the staff needs to take a RB, but it is believed that they would take a high level player like Mark-Anthony Richards.

  • RB Mark-Anthony Richards - from AU. "Richards was a four-star recruit and the No. 4 athlete in the 2019 signing class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Outside of Auburn, the West Palm Beach, Fla. product had offers from elite programs like Florida, Georgia, Miami, and Penn State." - 247 sports
  • RB Harold Joiner - from AU. Committed to Michigan State.
  • RB Deondrick Glass - from Ok State. Originally from Katy Texas, and played at Katy High School with now FSU signee Hunter Washington. I wonder if there is mutual interest here.
  • RB TJ Pledger - from Oklahoma.

WR

FSU is in need of a consistent WR to help elevate the floor of the room. Keep an eye on FSU adding a steady veteran.

  • WR Reginald Johnsonfrom ULL and originally from Baton Rogue. He was recruited by David Johnson when he was at Tennessee. Perhaps someone to monitor as an RB/WR if the staff can’t sign both of J. White and Hargrove.
  • WR Samori Toure - from Montana. Again another prospect I don't know much about because he was underrecruited. But he is a big physical guy at 6-3 190lbs. He has 155 catches for 2,488 yards, and 20 TDs to his name. He had a game last year vs South East Louisiana where he caught 12 passes for 303 yards and 3 TDs, did I mention that this was also a Quarter-Final FCS Playoff Game?!. Sign me up! He is another JP player to watch.
  • WR Andrew Parchment - from Kansas. He is a South Florida guy so there will probably be interest from Parchment. JP said this is a potential name to know. Parchment is a 6-3 WR who was a two-year starter at KU. In 2019, he had 65 Rec for 831 yards, and 7 TDs.
  • TE

TE isn't an area of need, and I don't believe they are looking to add a transfer.

    OL

FSU will look to take probably 2 transfer OL. They want to add OTs, but they are also casting a wide net for OL transfers. They will take an interior OL to elevate the floor/depth and to push current starters.

    • OC Sean Auwae - from Vanderbilt, and recruited out of Hawaii. He was partly recruited by Mike Norvell and Chris Thomsen on Arizona State's staff back in 2015.
    • OT/OG Brian Foley - from Holy Cross. Not going to lie, I know nothing about this young man. He is a 2x All-League selection at left tackle, with 34 career games played with 23 starts. JP said to keep an eye on him so we will.
    • OL Titus Jones - from Memphis and recruited out of New Orleans, LA. The double whammy of the new FSU pipeline. He has gained solid weight since he went to Memphis, 30+ LBS (Coach Storms' work paying off!). He was recruited by Coach YAC at Memphis so it will be interesting to see this one unfold.
    • OT Samuel Williams - from ULM. Two year starter at ULM.
    • OC/OG Grant Miller - from Vanderbilt. Another South Florida guy who has some interest in FSU. Miller is originally from Ft Lauderdale. He was a two-year starter for Vandy in the middle of the OL.
    • OT Jarrett Horst - from Arky State. Big Country Boy originally from Wisconsin! Yes please, I will take two. He was on the Outland Trophy watchlist this year, and a two-year starter at Arky State. Landing an OT like Horst gives the staff options with fielding the best 5 OL in 2021.
    • OG Doug Nester - from VT.
    • OT Marcus Minor - from Maryland.

    DL

    • DE Joseph Ozougwufrom the University of North Texas and originally from Houston. He was a starter at UNT and has 7.5 career sacks. His best career game is against Cal where he had 7 tackles and 1 sack.
    • DE Javasia Brunson - from Nevada and originally from Lufkin, Texas (East Texas by Houston). He was a class of 2019 kid and recruited by Norvell and company at Memphis. In a normal year you follow the visits, in a COVID year you follow the connections.
    • DE Everitt Cunningham - from Memphis. Prior connection, and played for Norvell and Fuller at Memphis. He knows the defensive system. NTT special and one to monitor moving forward. Committed to another university.
    • DE Jermaine Johnson - from UGA. COMMITTED TO FSU on 12/26. Keep an eye out to see if the staff wants to bring in another pass rusher or if they are done with the addition of Johnson. Kaindoh undoubtedly factors into this equation, if he leaves the staff probably looks to add another pass rusher, if not they might hold steady.

    LB

I believe FSU needs to add a LB, but it doesn't seem like there is a huge point of emphasis going on here. Something to monitor though.

    • LB Jaquan Yulee - from Marshall former 4* recruit who was being recruited by Clemson and Bama, but he ended up at Marshall and played LB under Coach Fuller… something to keep an eye on. He is a grad transfer and he suffered a bad neck injury a year ago, if he is cleared medically his situation is worth monitoring.
    • LB Osman Savage - from Michigan and originally from Maryland. Former 4* recruit.
    • LB Andrew Johnson - from Oregon and originally from Georgia. Former 3* recruit that FSU and the previous staff were in on before in 2018.
    • LB Dimitri Moore - from Vanderbilt. Played under Coach Marve, this is one to keep an eye on.

    DB

    • DB Christian Williams - from Miami (FL), and recruited out of Alabama. He was recruited and offered by Adam Fuller. I think he might want to be closer to home, and FSU offers him that while still playing P5 football.
    • DB Bryson Richardson - from UNC, and recruited from Georgia, He was recruited by Adam Fuller at Marshall in 2018.
    • DB/LB Jordan Genmark Heath - from Notre Dame.
    • DB Tae Daley - from Vanderbilt. He would walk into a starting job, and be our top safety. Hopefully, there is mutual interest between him and FSU. Need Coach Marve to come through with the connections.
    • DB Jarques McClellion - from Arkansas. Three year starter for Arkansas. Committed to FSU on 12/20.
