Give the people what they want!
Here is the third edition of Transfer Portal Talk. We are nearing the end of a wild season/year and things are starting to really heat up with transfers hitting the portal. Look for the flood gates to really open in the next couple weeks with the season coming to an end.
This is purely hypothetical on my behalf, but sometimes it isn't too hard to follow the crumbs on the trail.
Here are some potential portal transfers to keep an eye on:
QB
-
QB James Foster - from TAMU He was recruited by Norvell and Dilly while they were at Memphis.More than likely going the G5 route. He hasn't committed anywhere yet, but his twitter activity is filled with G5 coaches and recruiting coordinators. -
QB Taylor Powell - from Mizzou He was also recruited by Norvell and Dilly while they were at Memphis. -
QB Jalen Mayden - from Mississippi State. -
QB Terrance Gipson - from SMU. -
QB Darriel Mack - from UCF. Filled in very nicely for UCF in 2018 leading them to an AAC championship victory over Norvell and Memphis. He is an older QB and would provide an additional veteran presence in the locker room. QB Sheldon Layman - from Memphis. Recruited by Norvell and Dilly at Memphis. A player to watch especially if things go south in the 2021 recruiting class.- QB McKenzie Milton - from UCF. Once a superstar player in the college ranks before a terrible knee injury. It will be worth monitoring if FSU kicks the tires on his health and ability to play. WE HAVE OUR QB FOR 2021.
WR
TE
-
TE Grant Calcaterra - from the University of Oklahoma, and recruited out of California. Absolute stud TE, only issue is his injury concerns that caused him to retire from football for a short period. He has been cleared, and is ready to play again.Committed to Auburn.
- TE Jackson Lowe - from the University of Tennessee, and recruited out of Georgia.
OL
-
OT Willie Allen - from LA Tech, and from New Orleans originally. NTT player to watch, the staff has reached out to him, and Allen even "tweeted" at Corey Wren about playing in Tallahassee.Committed to Michigan. - OC Sean Auwae - from Vanderbilt, and recruited out of Hawaii. He was partly recruited by Mike Norvell and Chris Thomsen on Arizona State's staff back in 2015.
OC Eli Johnson - from Ole Miss, and recruited out of Mississippi. He was offered by Mike Norvell when he first took the Memphis job. Also recruited by Alex Atkins while he was at Tulane.-
OG Eric Wilson - from Harvard and recruited out of Minnesota. I am not sure if he will be able to qualify academically though...Committed to Auburn, OG Nick Pendley - from Mississippi State. 3* guy coming out of HS, and he would provide a college body that could contribute now.- OT/OG Brian Foley - from Holy Cross. Not going to lie, I know nothing about this young man. He is a 2x All-League selection at left tackle, with 34 career games played with 23 starts. JP said to keep an eye on him so we will.
- OL LaMarius Benson - from UCF and from Georgia. Big OL who opted out of 2020. He has some starts under his belt from 2019. JP player to monitor.
- OL Titus Jones - from Memphis and recruited out of New Orleans, LA. The double whammy of the new FSU pipeline. He has gained solid weight since he went to Memphis, 30+ LBS (Coach Storms' work paying off!). He was recruited by Coach YAC at Memphis so it will be interesting to see this one unfold.
- OT Samuel Williams - from ULM. Two year starter at ULM.
DL
- DE T.K. McLendon – from LSU and originally from Georgia. This is someone who the staff should be in communication with, but we will see.
- DE/LB Jaquan Henderson – from Georgia Tech and originally from Georgia. He was recruited by Adam Fuller and his staff when they were at Marshall. Henderson was a quality recruit and had numerous offers.
- DE/LB Kylan Wilburn – from the University of Arizona and originally from California. Former Freshman All-American in 2017 and starter (22 games) at UofA. Career stats: 54 tackles, 13.5 TFL, 9.5 sacks, and 5 FF.
- DE Joseph Ozougwu – from the University of North Texas and originally from Houston. He was a starter at UNT and has 7.5 career sacks. His best career game is against Cal where he had 7 tackles and 1 sack.
- DE Brandon Taylor – From Penn State and originally from Ohio. Class of 2020 commit so he has lots of eligibility, so probably not an instant impact type. But talent is needed at DE.
-
DT Ishmael Sopsher - From Alabama and originally from Louisiana. FSU was heavily involved in this recruitment the first time around in HS, and it will be interesting to see if there is any interest between the parties. He was also offered by Norvell and Co at Memphis.Fat and sloppy! More than likely going the FCS route per NTT. - DT Montra Edwards - from Missouri he was recruited by multiple members of this staff. Odell offered him, as well as Fuller at Memphis. I think he fits the athletic profile of what this staff wants in its DTs. Not sure what lead to his transfer, but if he has the proper attitude this could be a quality pickup.
- DE Javasia Brunson - from Nevada and originally from Lufkin, Texas (East Texas by Houston). He was a class of 2019 kid and recruited by Norvell and company at Memphis. In a normal year you follow the visits, in a COVID year you follow the connections.
- DE Everitt Cunningham - from Memphis. Prior connection, and played for Norvell and Fuller at Memphis. He knows the defensive system. NTT special and one to monitor moving forward.
DE Travez Moore - from LSU. If you throw enough s&^% at the wall, something has to stick, right?
LB
- LB Jaquan Yulee - from Marshall former 4* recruit who was being recruited by Clemson and Bama, but he ended up at Marshall and played LB under Coach Fuller… something to keep an eye on. He is a grad transfer and he suffered a bad neck injury a year ago, if he is cleared medically his situation is worth monitoring.
- LB Osman Savage - from Michigan and originally from Maryland. Former 4* recruit.
- LB Andrew Johnson - from Oregon and originally from Georgia. Former 3* recruit that FSU and the previous staff were in on before in 2018.
- LB Racheem Booth - from Southern Miss University and originally from Mississippi. This is a very interesting player. He has been productive at Southern Miss (Freshman All-American, 2x All-Conference). He opted out of 2020 because of COVID concerns, and he is looking to transfer. Career stats (3 seasons): 176 tackles, 22 TFLs, 10 Sacks, 4 PD, 3 FR, 2 FF. In 5 games against P5 competition (FSU, Tennessee, Miss State, Auburn, Kentucky) he has: He has 33 tackles, 3 TFLs.
- LB Darien Reynolds - from FCS.
- LB Dimitri Moore - from Vanderbilt. Played under Coach Marve, this is one to keep an eye on.
DB
- DB Christian Williams - from Miami (FL), and recruited out of Alabama. He was recruited and offered by Adam Fuller. I think he might want to be closer to home, and FSU offers him that while still playing P5 football.
- DB Bryson Richardson - from UNC, and recruited from Georgia, He was recruited by Adam Fuller at Marshall in 2018.
- DB/LB Jordan Genmark Heath - from Notre Dame.
- DB Tae Daley - from Vanderbilt. He would walk into a starting job, and be our top safety. Hopefully, there is mutual interest between him and FSU. Need Coach Marve to come through with the connections.
- DB Tyrone Lewis - from K State. Played HS ball in Louisiana. Was offered by the staff at Memphis and by Tennessee when Coach YAC was there. If there is one place this staff is flexing it is in Louisiana because of Coach YAC. JP player to watch.
