The lady Seminoles are coming off a huge opening weekend which led them to a top five national ranking. The weekend saw FSU win two games in walk-off fashion and three games by the mercy-rule in blowouts. Two wins came against then-ranked no. 1 Alabama.
Not only did the Seminoles big weekend earn a top-five ranking, but also player of the week honors for two players. After giving up no earned runs in 12.1 innings in the circle, Caylan Arnold took home the ACC Pitcher of the Week award in her first week as a ‘Nole. Kiersten Landers took home the ACC Player of the week after hitting .579 and driving in seven runs in her first action as a Seminole after her redshirt season.
Head coach Lonni Alameda also picked up her 700th career victory on the weekend. She’ll look for win #701 against crosstown rival FAMU on Wednesday at 6 PM. The matchup will be the 120th between the two schools, as FSU looks for their 25th straight win against the Rattlers. Wednesday night’s matchup will be broadacted on ACC Network Extra.
