During Florida State’s media availability for their spring workouts, dubbed Tour of Duty, head coach Mike Norvell spoke on a variety of topics including setting an appropriate mindset and standard, which includes different colored jerseys depending on how a player graded out in a workout. These jerseys can change daily.
He sounded a little bit disappointed to how the team responded on the day and notes a lack of leadership among the players. This is still early in the process, Norvell notes, and consistency is lacking from the players for leaders to emerge. Norvell continues to stress the idea that the team get a bit better every day.
Interestingly enough the Tour of Duty drills are based off of the old Mat Drills FSU ran under Bobby Bowden as Todd Graham visited Florida State while he coached at Allen High School in Texas. Norvell coached under Graham at Tulsa, Pittsburgh and Arizona State.
