Mike Martin Jr. spoke to the media about his first opening day as a head coach on Thursday afternoon. The head coach put multiple position battles to rest heading into opening day. Meat said the positions were still fluid, but Cooper Swanson will start at third, Carter Smith at first, Jackson Greene at second, and Tyler Martin at DH. Meat’s son will be FSU’s leadoff hitter on opening day after early enrolling in January. FSU’s opening day lineup will look something like this (1-5 confirmed by Meat):

Junior also spoke on how good he thinks his pitching staff can be. He also named freshman LHP Bryce Hubbart as his closer to start the season, and also mentioned JUCO transfer Davis Hare as an option to close out games. Meat’s full interview is below.
LHP Shane Drohan spoke on his new role as the Saturday-starter for the Seminoles. Drohan also spoke on how Jimmy Belanger has helped him to be more consistent and find the zone at a higher rate than he did his first two years at FSU. The lefty also spoke on the significance of opening day among other things. Drohan will get the start on Saturday afternoon against the Purple Eagles out of Niagara.
