Podcast: Previewing FSU basketball vs. Syracuse

The ‘Noles can’t let the Duke loss turn into two losses

NCAA Basketball: Florida State at Syracuse Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

The Orange are coming to town at high noon on Saturday (ESPN2), with or without their best player Elijah Hughes. The junior hurt himself in warmups on Tuesday, and will likely be a gametime decision. Coach Boeheim can be as tight lipped about injuries as Leonard Hamilton, so unless Hughes doesn’t travel with the team I am guessing that this is all we are going to hear.

In his absence, Syracuse lost a close game at NC State. Boeheim doesn’t really trust his bench, so four players went at least 37 minutes and two played the whole game.

His son Buddy was one of the those players, and we talk (APPLE // SPOTIFY) about his development from last year’s mediocre freshman season.

Other topics covered include how to attack the Syracuse zone and who on FSU’s roster is best suited to do that; the likelihood that Syracuse will bait FSU into a 3-point shooting contest; and some historical tidbits about Ham and Boeheim.

As a bonus for all you derelicts out there, we make ACC picks for the weekend. As always, these picks are not for betting purposes, but if you’d like to share some winnings we prefer Venmo.
