It’s the best day of the year, Happy Opening day (oh and Valentine’s Day I guess). The Seminoles will open up the season against the Niagara Purple Eagles when CJ Van Eyk takes the hill at 6:00 PM tonight. RHP Tommy Bednarski will get the start for Niagara on the hill.

The matchup will mark the beginning of the Mike Martin Jr. era in Tallahassee. Junior’s son Tyler Martin will be the first hitter for the ‘Noles under his direction. Returning players Matheu Nelson, Reese Albert, Elijah Cabell, and Robby Martin will follow the early-enrollee. FSU’s opening day lineup will feature four new starters from last year’s opening day with Martin in the leadoff spot, Cooper Swanson at third, Carter Smith at first, and JUCO-transfer Jackson Greene at second.

Another new head coach in Tallahassee will be at Dick Howser for the start of the 2020 season. FSU football head coach Mike Norvell will be throwing out the first pitch tonight.

I’ll be covering the game live from Dick Howser Stadium in the game thread below, as well as on my personal twitter, @brettpn. Let the fun begin.
