Last night was the exact opposite outcome FSU was looking for in their season opener as they fell to the Purple Eagles 3-1. The good thing about baseball is there are 55 games in the regular season and FSU can only go up from here. Florida State has two games to win this series. The way they respond to last night’s loss over the next two days will likely tell us what this team is made of.
Shane Drohan will get the start on the bump for the ‘Noles this afternoon. For Drohan, finding the strike zone at a high rate will be the #1 goal today as he looks to build consistency for the rest of the season. The LHP posted a 3.66 ERA in 51.2 IP throughout the 2019 season.
JUCO-transfer Chaz DeLuca will start for the Purple Eagles. DeLuca posted a 4.50 ERA at GateWay Community College last season. After going 2/11 against lefties last night, the Seminoles lineup will once again be tested by the LHP on Saturday. I’d expect a couple more RH bats in FSU’s lineup today.
Game two of the three-game series will start at 2:00 PM and be on ACC Network Extra. I’ll have updates in the game thread from Dick Howser.
