After an opening day loss, the Seminoles bounced back for back-to-back blowout wins and a series W to begin the season. The bounce back was enough for the Seminoles to stay steady within the top 15 of the polls. The ‘Noles have moved down to 14 in Baseball America’s rankings after starting the season #12. D1Baseball has the ‘Noles staying at #12, while Perfect Game kept FSU #14. The Coaches’ Poll is yet to be released, we will update it as the final of the four rankings comes out.
After one weekend, Florida State’s pitching staff has a 2.33 ERA and 0.85 WHIP. The hitters compiled a .275 average and .461 on-base percentage in the series despite a lackluster performance in game one.
Up next for the Seminoles is USF, who also won 2⁄3 games on opening weekend against Marist. The Bulls will take on FAMU on Monday night before facing the Seminoles on Tuesday at 6:00 PM.
After the midweek matchup, the ‘Noles will face the reigning AAC champions Cincinnati for a weekend series. The Bearcats opened the season 0-3 at the Atlanta challenge.
