Florida State looks to keep momentum going from Friday’s walk-off wins and school-record 22 runs over Detroit Mercy

2018 NCAA Division I Women’s Softball Championship - Game 2

After walk-off wins over North Carolina and Alabama on Friday, the ‘Noles kept their momentum going on Saturday afternoon. FSU set a school record with 22 runs against Detroit Mercy in their first game of their Saturday doubleheader. Florida State put up a ridiculous 13 runs in the first inning and continued to dominate throughout the rest of the game. After another three-hit game, Kiersten Landers has started the year with 9 hits in 13 at-bats. Freshman Chloe Culp posted five RBI’s, three hits, two runs, and a homer in Saturday’s game. Kathryn Sandercock, Bianca Cruz, and Kara Bilodeau combined for the 5-inning shutout.

Florida State will look to keep the momentum going with another matchup with the number one team in the nation. Alabama will have their chance at redemption against last night’s collapse against the ‘Noles. Two wins against the #1 team in the nation would go a long way for FSU’s RPI the rest of the season.
