Florida State is set to play Boston College at home today, with the chance to wrap up a undefeated season at home as well as at least a share of the ACC regular season title.
(If you need a quick refresher on the ACC tiebreakers, we’ve got your back.)
The Eagles come in under .500, with a 13-17 record, while Florida State (25-5) could end up being the only team in the ACC with 16 conference wins, should Louisville lose to Virginia today.
From our game preview, breaking down Boston College’s impressive defense:
The nuts and bolts of Boston College’s defense should look very familiar to FSU fans. Despite the recent resurgence in conservative gap style defenses due to the success of pack line teams like Virginia, Boston College and Florida State are stalwarts for old school denial defense.
While their defense is interesting to look at in contrast to Florida State’s, if they want to win they’re going to need to do it on the offensive side of the ball.
If you’ve got some spare time to kill before the game, check out our podcast preview of the game as well, recapping the Notre Dame win and reflecting on senior Trent Forrest.
Speaking of Forrest, tonight is also Senior Night, and the main honoree will be the clutch player who is two steals away from placing second all-time at the school with 226.
From our piece on his legacy:
The ideal player for Leonard Hamilton is someone who is hard-working, caring, well-spoken, and above all else a person who leads on and off the court. In short, the ideal person for FSU basketball is Trent Forrest.
There are few words that can do justice for this man. The time and hours he spent developing his craft, the time he spent as a role model for younger teammates, and the time he devoted to the classroom can only be felt by the broad impact he has made on this program, and the wake he’ll leave behind.
KenPom gives Florida State a 95% chance to win, with a predicted score of 79-61.
Meanwhile, Vegas has the spread of the game set at 16.5, with an over/under of 142.
The game is set to start at 4:30 p.m. on ACC Network Extra, with additional viewing on Fox Sports regional channels and WatchESPN.
