Former Florida State forward Kiah Gillespie has been drafted in the third round (32nd overall) of the WNBA draft. Gillespie led the Seminoles as they finished with a 24-8 overall record and to the championship game of the ACC Tournament. Gillespie led the Noles in scoring (15.6 pts) and rebounding (8.7 reb) in her senior season.
Gillespie transferred from Maryland and played her junior and senior seasons in Tallahassee. Last year she teamed with fellow seniors Nicki Ekhomu and Nausia Woolfolk to lead the Seminoles to an eighth straight 20 win season.
Gillespie will join a Chicago team that made the playoffs in 2019 finishing fifth in the 12 team WNBA with a 20-14 record. The Sky beat Phoenix in the first round before losing to Las Vegas in the second round of the 2019 WNBA playoffs.
Gillespie will join the Chicago Sky for training camp when the WNBA season resumes. The WNBA has been suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus.
