Makayla Timpson (Blakely, GA; Early County) has committed to Florida State. Timpson is a 6’2 forward who is ranked as a 4-star recruit by ESPN HoopGurlz (#54 overall). Timpson is the first commit in the 2021 class for FSU. In fact, Timpson is the first high school commitment to Florida State since London Clarkson pulled the trigger on September 10, 2018.

Timpson will provide much needed size in the frontcourt for the Seminoles. She is known as a two-way player with athleticism. Timpson has the ability to score in the low post while simultaneously threatening the defense with an effective face up game.

It’s hard to over estimate how important this commitment is for Florida State. Beside the fact that Timpson is FSU’s first recruit in the 2021 class, as stated earlier, the Seminoles didn’t sign a high-schooler in the 2020 class. Seen in that light Timpson’s commitment proves that FSU can get back on track. This was important to prove in light of the failure to sign a high-schooler in the 2020 class. Also, important recruiter and former assistant JC Carter left to become the associate head coach at UT Arlington. FSU needed to show that they could get top recruits under the new coaching staff and they have proven that with Timpson’s commitment.

Florida State may not be done with the 2021 class. The Noles still have several targets left on their board including Damiya Hagemann (5*, #19 overall), Kyndall Hunter (5*, #29 overall) and O’Mariah Gordon (5*, #33 overall).
