Following Saturday’s disappointing 16-13 loss to Georgia Tech, Florida State (0-1, 0-1 ACC) head coach Mike Norvell will join host Tom Block for his weekly call-in show. The program will air live locally in Tallahassee on ABC at 7 p.m. (you can stream it here).
The Seminoles (0-1, 0-1 ACC) are idle this week as they look to correct issues that arose following the defeat last week to the Yellow Jackets. FSU faces bitter rival Miami at Hard Rock Stadium next Saturday.
Join us in the comments for live updates and quotes from Norvell and other guests throughout the hour.
Update, 8:06 PM
‘Inside Seminole Football’ began with a two-segment interview with Norvell. First, he addressed the loss Saturday.
“It hurt for our players, it hurt for out staff. Our focus coming in with team meetings is we have to continue to push, continue to move forward and improve in all aspects.”
Norvell continued on the offense, saying they had some “self-inflicted issues” and that in a couple of situations, they would have liked to had a “different look”.
“This is not something where you flip the switch, and all is good. Our guys have to continue to believe ‘we can’”, said Norvell.
Then it was defensive ends coach and special teams coordinator John Papuchis’ turn in the interview room. Papuchis said he would like to see more contain from the defensive ends and more of an impact on the game. He also talked about the FSU’s strategy when it comes to fielding kickoffs and punts, and what the buy-in from Norvell when it comes to special teams means to the unit.
“I have the best job in America. Coach Norvell is super involved. To have that type of support from the head coach, it makes it more important to the players, to the staff.”
Finally, Tom Block’s interview with a player this week was junior defensive back Asante Samuel Jr. after his 2 interception game Saturday. He discussed the Miami game and what it means to him with hailing from that area, and also his big game last week.
The call-in show airs every Monday at 7 p.m., but you can catch the full run-down here every week.
