2020 NBA Draft: Scouting Patrick Williams

Not your typical one and done.

NCAA Basketball: Boston College at Florida State Glenn Beil-USA TODAY Sports

One year ago Patrick Williams was just a talented 4-star high school recruit. He joined a talented Florida State Seminoles basketball team and bid his time on the bench working for a starting position. Unfortunately he fell short of that goal but next season he has the chance to compete for it again.

In the NBA.

You read that right. Williams didn’t start a single game last year and yet is a potential lottery pick this year.

Sounds crazy right? Believe it or not this is the second year in a row an FSU basketball player is going to be drafted in the first round after not starting a game the year before. For the uninitiated, the first was Mfiondu Kabengele.

To see how his game might transfer to the next level lets take a look at Williams’ tape.

His film is exciting. Even if you’re not a basketball fan its easy to admire the grace and skill Williams brings to the game. We were lucky to watch him play basketball in the Garnet and Gold this past year and if all goes to plan we should continue to have a lot more opportunities in the future to watch him at the next level.
