Florida State football marks its 75th anniversary this year and Chick-fil-A will be a presenting partner in the celebration. The “75th Anniversary Season of Florida State Football presented by Chick-fil-A” will kickoff Sunday, September 5 at 7:30 p.m. in a nationally televised game against Notre Dame.
FSU, then Florida State College, fielded successful football teams from 1902-1904, but this season will mark the 75th intercollegiate season since the transition from Florida State College for Women (FSCW) to co-educational Florida State University in 1946. FSU’s new status was followed almost immediately by the introduction of intercollegiate athletics with Florida State playing its first football game October 18, 1947 against Stetson at Centennial Field in Tallahassee.
As part of the anniversary season, Chick-fil-A will be presenting the kickoff game and home opener vs. Notre Dame. At each home game during 2021, Florida State and Chick-fil-A will host an on-field recognition of former players who have played an important role in Florida State’s football history. As a complement, Chick-fil-A will present special content from the last 75 years of FSU football throughout the season.
