NCAA Football: Jacksonville State at Florida State

Another year, another slow start vs. an FCS opponent.

Florida State Seminoles football is currently struggling to get the offense going against Jacksonville State, scraping together slightly over 150 yards and 7 points. Some inconsistency at the quarterback position, inflicted by a dual-gunslinger system, threw off the rhythm of drives leading to an 0 for 5 count on third downs. Eventually, some defensive stands (including a near scoop and score by Sidney Williams via a forced fumble from Derrick McLendon) led to offensive action, a 12-yard touchdown run by Jashuan Corbin and a 2-yard toss from McKenzie Milton to Wyatt Rector.

Jacksonville State has held its own against the Seminoles, with quarterback Zerrick Cooper (who helped lead last year’s near-upset bid by the Gamecocks) becoming his school’s all-time leading passer while leading his squad to a halftime tie.
