Big week ahead for Florida State athletics.

FSU added its third wide receiver from the transfer portal; this time former Alabama WR Malik Benson and he has speed to burn.

The 6’1”, 195 pound Benson came to Tuscaloosa as the top-ranked JUCO prospect in the 2022 cycle, regardless of position, with nearly every major college program having offered him. In two years at Hutchinson Community College, Benson set the school record for receiving yards with 2,152.

He has excellent speed for his size and FSU will look to unlock and further develop the JUCO version of Benson. He’ll be a veteran addition to a very young wide receiver unit in Tallahassee and should immediately be in the rotation once he learns the playbook.

FSU is in a good position to add West Virginia DE Tomiya Durojaiye.

FSU’s 2024 recruiting class ranks 7th overall after its weekend portal haul.

Mark Schlabach has FSU at 16th in his way-too-early 2024 rankings.

Sporting News is higher on the Seminoles.

The Seminoles’ future in the ACC will remain a topic of conversation after this year’s playoff snub, but this remains the most-talented roster in the ACC. DJ Uiagalelei – a former Clemson quarterback who played at Oregon State last season – is back in the conference. Running back Lawrence Toafili and a talented receiver room returns, and Georgia transfer Mavin Jones will add depth on the defensive side. Mike Norvell is building a contender through recruiting and the portal, and the Orange Bowl loss to Georgia is not a huge setback given how many players opted out. Florida State opens against Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland, on Aug. 24 and plays at Notre Dame on Sept. 9. There is no time to dwell on what could have been in 2023.

I don’t think these jersey numbers are a coincidence:
