Phil Savage walked away very impressed with FSU's talent.

USA TODAY Sports

Phil Savage is a long-time NFL man, and former GM of the Cleveland Browns. He's now scouting for the Senior Bowl, and has been hitting some of the schools in the Southeast. Here are his thoughts, via twitter.

  • Arriving home now and want to get some #FSU notes up. First, thanks to #CoachJimboFisher and the #Seminoles for hosting @seniorbowl today.
  • Been a regular to #FSU since '90 as a visiting coach, NFL scout/GM and now as @seniorbowl director. Facilities finally to impressive level.
  • #FSU QB's (Jameis Winston, Jacob Coker and Sean Maguire) reminiscent #Oregon in late 90's with Akili Smith, Joey Harrington and AJ Feeley.
  • Not talking #NFL career results, but just young passers who can really spin it. Winston and Coker may be best #1 and #2 combo in nation.
  • WR #1 Kelvin Benjamin (6050/238) always catches every scout's eye with his imposing size. Only a RS Soph, he has major talent.
  • James Wilder Jr. and Devonta Freeman are both quality RB's. #32 is similar to 'Bama's TJ Yeldon, a fluid runner with size and hands.
  • #FSU OL will be anchored by Sr center Bryan Stork (6040/310). This part of the team has improved over past four years re: NFL talent.
  • #FSU coaches rave about DT Timmy Jernigan, only a Jr, he has quicks and power. DT Demonte McAllister will be on the @seniorbowl Watch List.
  • #20 Lamarcus Joyner shifts from SAF to DC in '13. He has the quickness, instincts, ball awareness and toughness to play outside or in slot.
  • #FSU has recruited well at DC with #3 Ronald Darby (still limited due to inj), #26 PJ Williams and #13 Jalen Ramsey all with big futures.
  • #31 Terrance Brooks is another Sr who will start at SS and will be on Watch List. #Noles do have young HWS prospects in back end.
  • #FSU LB'ers anchored by #7 Christian Jones and #22 Telvin Smith, both Sr's on Watch List. Jones has pro OLB build, while Smith can fly.
