Florida State football spring practice report: 3/27

The 'Noles began to round out their second week of spring practice Thursday.

Jimbo Fisher and his Florida State Seminoles took to the practice facility Thursday with two full weeks of spring practice in sight. The players were in full pads, surrounded by over a hundred high school coaches that are in town for Jimbo's coaching clinic.

The following players were not dressed out Thurday: Matthew Thomas, Tre Jackson, Ronald Darby, Nate Andrews, Scooter Haggins, Derrick Mitchell, Ryan Green, Justin Shanks and Myles Davis.

Bobo Wilson was dressed but he joined Karlos Williams and Tyler Hunter as they wore non-contact jerseys.

Kareem Are was dressed out and participating today for the first time this spring, and we'll obviously know more on that situation once Jimbo speaks after practice today. Are will continue to imrove his conditioning as spring unfolds and he is able to participate, but he looked great -- they have him playing left guard. The duo of Wilson Bell and Kareem Are could turn into something incredible, as I saw that first hand today.

Eddie Goldman -- as Jimbo mentioned yesterday -- continues to get into better playing shape and you can see it when he's on the field. Quick feet, very strong and coach Odell seems pleased. Keith Bryant, on the other hand, struggled a little bit today with his technique. They wanted shorter strides from him coming from the set position.

With Nate Andrews out, Tyrell Lyons and Lamarcus Brutus were getting looks at safety.  I also witnessed Tyrell Lyons wreck a couple receivers on the board drills today.

The defense was working quite a bit on the 5-2 set today with lots of big bodies up front. Terrance Smith is a mainstay, while Markus Eligwe and Reggie Northrup continue to share reps.

Have to mention it again, but Jalen Ramsey continues to absolutely destroy every receiver he goes up against on the board drills. And when he's not running the drill, he's cheering on his defensive backs. Extremely vocal.

2015 5* CB Tarvarus McFadden was watching Thursday's practice, too.

Jimbo will not speak following Thursday's practice, so we'll have to wait until Saturday to find out specifics about Are.
