It was pouring on the campus side of Tallahassee Tuesday afternoon as the scrimmage neared, but once again the state-of-the-art indoor practice facility proved to be crucial and the Florida State Seminoles were able to continue on as planned.
The following players were not dressed out: Ryan Green, Markus Eligwe, Cam Erving, Josue Matias, Ryan Hoefeld, P.J. Williams, Matthew Thomas, Colin Blake and Ronald Darby.
Roderick Johnson continued reps at left tackle and has looked great. He has tremendous footwork for a guy that size and continues to impress coach Trickett. Johnson still has work to be done when it comes to consistency, but his strength and athleticism has propelled him into an unusual position for a first-year player. Alec Eberle also took reps at backup center.
The offense continued work on two-tight end sets and many involved true freshman Ermon Lane. Lane took quite a bit of first team reps during the walk-through.
Marquez White and Nick Waisome continue to work the corner positions with the absence of Darby and Williams, and it seems that the staff is comfortable with their backups at that position. It was mentioned yesterday that White quit basketball and he's taken on a much bigger role on the football field since then. He has the chance to be a really good player.
As they usually do during fall scrimmage, the staff was preparing to continue work with the headsets, even though they scrimmaged inside.
There wasn't too much to see today that we haven't already mentioned, but Jimbo Fisher will speak with the media following Tuesday's scrimmage, as will a couple players.
