Florida State football practice report: 8/8

Florida State's football team practiced Friday afternoon inside the state-of-the-art practice facility.

Friday afternoon brought thunderstorms to Tallahassee as the Seminoles began practice, but thanks to Florida State's indoor practice facility, there was no delay and the 'Noles were able to continue on with their business. It also happened to be the first day of full pads for the 'Noles.

Before practice even began, FSU's befuddling bat problem showed its face once again, this time inside the indoor practice facility. But as Jimbo Fisher has proven capable of in the past, he dealt with the vermin -- and Florida State's first opponent is now out of the way.

Markus Eligwe and Ryan Green were joined by Arthur Williams, Delvin Purifoy and Kevin Haplea on the non-dressed list. Also, Mario Pender wasn't at Friday's practice at all. Josue Matias, who was without contact on Thursday, was back at it and fully participating on Friday. However, Travis Rudolph, who didn't dress on Thursday, was dressed, but seem limited.

The Carolina Panthers, St. Louis Rams, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins all had scouts present.

Cameron Erving took some snaps with the centers(working with the quarterbacks), with Karrem Are in at left guard and Josue Matias in at left tackle. However, Erving took all left tackle snaps during walk-throughs. The second team offensive line seems to be shaping up as expected, with Roderick Johnson in at left tackle, Kareem Are at left guard, Ryan Hoefeld at center, Ruben Carter at right guard and Chad Mavety at right tackle.

Freshman Stephen Gabbard has been taking first team snaps as long-snapper.

After a couple days of EJ Levenberry getting the bulk of snaps alongside Terrance Smith, Reggie Northrup found his way back into that position. Northrup also stayed in during the nickel, which is something I haven't seen at all this week.

Kick returners has finally broke into pairs, with the obvious being Karlos Williams and Kermit Whitfield. Bobo Wilson and Dalvin Cook also paired up during kick return drills, while Rashad Greene paired up with Jalen Ramsey.

Jimbo Fisher will speak following Friday's practice, and the media will also get a couple players.

Update: Kevin Haplea is out with a concussion for a couple days. Mario Pender missed practice for the birth his child. He'll be back tomorrow. FIsher is waiting to see if Isaiah Jones is academically cleared (or not) to play. Make sure to watch the Fisher interview for more information.
