The Florida State football team rounded out its 2017 schedule by announcing matchups with UL-Monroe and Delaware State next season.

The Seminoles landed three players in ESPN’s ranking of the Top 25 ACC players from this season.

3. Dalvin Cook. In any other league, Cook might have a shot at the No. 1 spot. Alas, he has to settle for third behind the top-two Heisman finishers. Still, Cook’s season was certainly memorable, as he amassed 2,046 yards from scrimmage and 19 total touchdowns.

4. DeMarcus Walker. Like his Florida State teammate Cook, Walker became a consensus All-American, earning league defensive player of the year honors after tying for the national lead in sacks (15) and leading the team in tackles (64), forced fumbles (three) and fumble recoveries (two). No one will forget his blocked extra point to clinch another win over Miami, either.

13. Tarvarus McFadden. McFadden was named first-team All-ACC by both coaches and media thanks to eight interceptions, which ties him for the national lead and is the most by an FSU player since 1991.

On the latest edition of The Nolecast, Bud and Ingram examined Jimbo Fisher’s new extension and what it could mean long-term.

With his Florida State career winding down, DeMarcus Walker shared what he wants his legacy at FSU to be, as told by ESPN’s Jared Shanker.

News broke on Tuesday that Florida State safety Ermon Lane is expected to miss the Orange Bowl after suffering a leg injury in practice

It may bring back a sour memory but FSU’s last-second loss to North Carolina was included in Sports Illustrated’s list of the top ten games of the 2016 regular season.

No. 10: North Carolina 37, Florida State 35

Despite trailing from midway through the first quarter on, Florida State appeared poised to steal a victory when redshirt freshman quarterback Deondre Francois guided a 75-yard drive and capped it with a touchdown run to put the Seminoles ahead 35–34 with 23 seconds left. Mitch Trubisky proved that was just too much time. The North Carolina signal-caller, who gashed Florida State for 405 yards on the day, drove the Tar Heels to the Seminoles’ 37-yard line, where kicker Nick Weiler, who had previously never made a field goal longer than 49 yards, sailed his 54-yarder just far enough to clear the crossbar for the upset.

Corey Clark of the Tallahassee Democrat examines whether the new trend of college football players deciding to not participate in bowl games is here to stay.

Recruiting

Five-star FSU target Cam Akers, the No. 1 running back in the 2017 recruiting class, announced on Tuesday that he is moving his commitment date up to next Tuesday, December 27th. What exactly this means for the Seminoles is still an unknown as Akers’ decision will likely remain a mystery until the very moment when he publicizes his decision.

Other Sports

The Florida State baseball team was included in the top ten of the Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll and a pair of Seminoles were named preseason All-Americans.

Tomahawk Nation’s Curt Weiler put together some observations from FSU basketball’s non-conference finale against Samford.
