Michigan opens touchdown Orange Bowl betting favorite over Florida State

Michigan finished the regular season poorly, but was the better team overall in the regular season.

Michigan has opened as a 7.5-point favorite over the Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl, per lines available at multiple sports books Sunday afternoon. The game kicks off on the evening of December 30.

Michigan went 10-2 on the year, blowing out Colorado and Penn State, and taking down Wisconsin. Its losses came on the road at Iowa and Ohio State.

Florida State went 9-3 on the season, and its only win over a ranked team came against Florida. Its losses came by 43 at Louisville, and by single scores at home against Clemson and North Carolina.

Michigan is 6th in the playoff rankings, while Florida State is 11th. Michigan is 6-6 against the spread in 2016, while Florida State is 7-4.

Florida State has failed to cover in its last three bowl games under Jimbo Fisher. In its six bowl games under Fisher, Florida State has beaten the spread by nine, one, and seven, and has lost against the spread by eight, 31.5, and 21.5 points.
