Update: FSU is now an underdog of 2.5 points, and the over/under is 45.5, down from 47.5.
Update: Miami has moved to a three-point favorite in under an hour.
The Miami Hurricanes travel to Doak Campbell Stadium to face the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday. The kickoff is set for 3:30 pm.
And the opening betting lines for the week are out as well, with the Seminoles listed as a favorite of one point.
This line actually implies that the Hurricanes are about a field goal better on a neutral site, but of course the game is being played in Tallahassee, which is worth 3-4 points on the Vegas line’s power rankings.
Florida State’s coaching has been an absolute train wreck so far this season, with hordes of penalties and wasted timeouts as the team struggles to get lined up, or have the correct number of men on the field. The Seminoles are rather lucky to be 1-2 on the year. FSU has also struggled through significant early injuries, including to QB Deondre Francois.
Miami, on the other hand, has looked considerably better. But the Hurricanes have lost seven-consecutive games in the series, and Jimbo Fisher has never lost to the Hurricanes. The status of Miami running back Mark Walton, who rolled an ankle against Duke, is still unknown.
Early lines are inherently dynamic, and tend to move with much lower wager sizes than those late in the week, because the Casino is still trying to build its hold, so swings are very possible.
The total (over/under) is not available until later in the week.
