Jimbo Fisher gives health update on offensive line, thoughts on Blackman

Everything you need to know from Fisher’s weekly presser.

On Monday, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher gave his weekly press conference in which he addressed a multitude of topics.

First and foremost, Fisher would not expand on the specifics of any injuries suffered by offensive lineman Derrick Kelly, Landon Dickerson or Cole Minshew. He did however say that he believes all three will be back at practice on Monday. The whole offensive line underwent rehab treatment immediately following Saturday’s win.

Fisher was pleased with true freshman James Blackman’s performance, giving the quarterback credit and praise for his game winning touchdown pass to Auden Tate late in the fourth quarter.

“I thought he played a solid game. When the game was on the line, made a dart to win the game. I was happy.”

The head coach pointed out some impactful players on Saturday by name. He said that running back Jacques Patrick, “Was outstanding in the game," and it was, “Good to see Dontavious Jackson get back in shape and healthy enough to get back in there. Fisher also mention Kyle Meyers, Derrick Nnadi, Ricky Aguayo, Derwin James and Matthew Thomas by name.

Additionally, Fisher said he though defensive back Tarvarus McFadden played, “one of his best games of the year.” Fisher attributed that to the health of the Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. native, who had played 2016 with a torn labrum.
