Football
USA Today released its annual updated list of salaries for college football coaches across the country. Jimbo Fisher is once again in the top ten nationally and, somehow has the second highest buyout of all coaches, higher than that of Nick Saban and nearly double that of Urban Meyer or Jim Harbaugh.
FSU running back Jacques Patrick, who suffered a knee injury in last week’s loss to Louisville, took to Twitter Wednesday to share that his surgery Tuesday was successful.
Surgery yesterday was a success! God works in mysterious ways. He always has a plan. I’ll be back sooner rather than later 9️⃣ pic.twitter.com/SOeWZOfbth

FSU released its official injury report for its matchup with Boston College Wednesday night. On it were Patrick and Keith Gavin, who has still not returned to practice, as well as the surprising update that wide receiver George Campbell will miss the rest of the 2017 season with the same core muscle injury that prematurely ended his 2016 campaign.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated’s MMQB breaks down what he is being told by NFL personnel about some potential top picks in the upcoming draft including FSU safety Derwin James.
Derwin James, DB, Florida State: As a true sophomore, James suffered torn cartilage in his knee that cost him just about all of the 2016 season. He hasn’t exactly come back roaring this year. To be fair, coaches are moving him around. But the fact is, he simply hasn’t shown the playmaking ability he had pre-surgery. “If he plays like he did as a freshman, yes, he belongs on that list,” said an AFC college scouting director. “Right now? No way in hell . . . He’s not doing anything. And yes, they’re playing him differently. They’re trying to create for him, playing him at outside ’backer. But he’s not the same.”
If FSU is able to get to six wins this season, where are some potential bowl destinations? Our Andrew Miller compiled the various projections.
Recruiting
Fisher was adamant on his call-in show this week that this season’s results have not affected Florida State’s recruiting efforts. The facts don’t really back this up.
Fact check: #FSU has been unable to secure visits from multiple top targets to date, and is moving on to some plan B/C type kids. https://t.co/isNMqAgD2Z

Alumni
Former FSU kicker Roberto Aguayo has landed a spot on his third NFL roster this season, this time being picked up by a division rival of the team that drafted him for a spot on their practice squad.
The #Panthers signed K Roberto Aguayo, former #Bucs draft pick, to their practice squad.

Another member of FSU’s 2013 national championship team got PAID in his new contract extension Wednesday.
Jaguars giving LB Telvin Smith a 4 year, $50 million extension, source tells ESPN.

Other Sports
Matt Norlander, college basketball writer for CBS Sports, ranked all the Division I teams from 1-351. While he has two of FSU’s rivals in the top ten, Norlander is not too high on the Seminoles in 2017.
One of the biggest drops on the list, as Florida State goes from a No. 3 seed last season to a team I don't expect to sniff the NCAAs. The freshman class will mature nicely in two years' time, I think, but you can't ask this squad to overcome the losses of Jonathan Isaac, Xavier Rathan-Mayes and Dwayne Bacon.
Our Matt Minnick sat down with FSU head coach Leonard Hamilton before the season officially gets underway next month.
It may not be an official game, but the FSU basketball team will play its first preseason exhibition of the 2017-2018 season Thursday night against Central Missouri. The game is not televised, but Tomahawk Nation will be in attendance, providing updates on the site.
