Another walk-on added to FSU depth chart ahead of Syracuse game

Some interesting changes.

NCAA Football: Louisville at Florida State Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

The Florida State receiving corps continued to thin out last week, as Head Coach Jimbo Fisher announced that George Campbell would be lost for the remainder of the season. Campbell had been listed as the backup to Auden Tate, but that role is now occupied by redshirt-senior walk-on Jared Jackson. Jackson is not the only walk-on to make the two-deep roster at WR; he joins Justin Motlow, who is listed as Nyqwan Murray’s backup.

Freshman D.J. Matthews, the top slot reciever recruit in the country, remains absent from the depth chart entirely— both at WR and punt returner, as the latter is still listed as Tarvarus McFadden. Replacing Campbell as a backup kick returner is Amir Rasul.

Rasul also saw his name shift with the running back depth, which had listed Cam Akers and then Amir Rasul “or” Ryan Green. The new RB depth is ostensibly the same, but the order has changed to Akers, followed by Green “or” Rasul.

One change that has not yet been made regards Ermon Lane, who was switched back from safety to receiver, where Fisher says he’ll remain. Lane is still listed as a backup safety wearing No. 7, even though he’s sporting No. 5 on the other side of the ball.

There are no changes to the defensive depth from last week, when FSU allowed 35 points to BC.
