Although the matchup has different implications than those predicted during the preseason, the game between Clemson and Florida State still has ramifications for both teams.
Florida State, sitting at 3-5 is looking to clinch its spot in a bowl game. The ’Noles can only afford to lose one more game during the season and still guarantee its spot in a bowl. If the Seminoles do fall to Clemson, they would have to win out vs. Delaware State, Florida and ULM in order to reach six victories.
Clemson has a chance to clinch its spot in the ACC Championship game for the third straight season. It’s lone loss this season came on the road at Syracuse, who FSU defeated last week.

Florida State QB James Blackman’s last road game was not one for the memory books. In a 35-3 loss at Boston College, the true freshman threw for just 102 yards on 11-26 passing. It was the only game of his career he failed to complete a touchdown pass. The ’Noles will have RB Jacques Patrick back, who missed the last two games with a knee injury. Initially, it was feared Patrick would miss 4-6 months, but after a miraculous comeback, he will return to the field just three weeks later.
Clemson QB Kelly Bryant has been a pleasant surprise for the Tigers this season. He has thrown for 1773 yards and seven touchdowns through nine games. The junior is also a threat on the ground, rushing for 548 yards. Bryant has rushed for more than 59 yards in six of those nine games.
