With the Delaware State Hornets on deck for FSU, there’s been a dearth of actual football talk this week. Well, at least regarding the on-field action. However, there’s been no lack of discussion pertaining to those who patrol the sidelines, including Seminoles Head Coach Jimbo Fisher.
The latest scuttlebutt surrounding Fisher involves possible overtures from Texas A&M and Tennessee, although Fisher has denied any direct contact with those programs. In an interview on Thursday, Florida State President John Thrasher weighed in on the possibility of Fisher departing and offered a pretty long prospective tenure for the coach. Said Thrasher: “Jimbo is here forever. As long as he wants to be. He’s good. He’s as good as gold. He’s going to be here.”
When pressed about the implications of another disappointing season in 2018, Thrasher hedged some: “We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it, but I’m confident that we’re going to be good next season. I think we’ve had some tough breaks this year.”
