Gabe Nabers has seen increased snaps over the past few weeks, culminating with his first career touchdown against Delaware State.

The 6-3, 248-pound fullback showed off his receiving skills, catching a two-yard touchdown pass from James Blackman in the second quarter. It was the first of his young career.

When asked about his mindset during the play, Nabers said he was thankful he was on the field at the right time and everyone on offense was able to execute the play call.

He admitted his confidence was a bit bumpy at first, but it has increased as his role has become a bigger part of the offense.

Nabers also talked about the growth of quarterback James Blackman, saying the freshman has grown a lot over his nine career starts. He praised Blackman’s ability to lead both on and off the field, comparing his leadership ability to one of a senior despite his true freshman status.

He also mentioned how special it was to see walk-ons and second string players get a chance to make plays against Delaware State.
