Florida State football, recruiting news: Jacques Patrick expected back in next 2 weeks

FSU athletic director Stan Wilcox confirmed to Bob Ferrante of the Osceola Wednesday that a decision on whether or not FSU will make up its cancelled game against Louisiana-Monroe will be reached next week.

Wednesday also saw FSU tight end Mavin Saunders recognized in a surprise celebration in which he was named to the 2017 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. This is the second straight year an FSU football player has been included after starting center Alec Eberle was on the 2016 edition.

Jimbo Fisher returned to his call-in show Wednesday evening, giving some injury updates while one fan snuck in a question about potential coaching changes.

Of those updates, the most pressing is that running back Jacques Patrick, injured in FSU’s loss to Louisville, could be back as soon as in two weeks against Clemson.

Wayne McGahee of the Tallahassee Democrat points out the problem the FSU defense may have this weekend going up against one of the fastest offenses in the nation.

Morgan Moriarty of SB Nation points out that some sportsbooks are giving odds on Tim Tebow as the next coach at Florida.


Former FSU running back James Wilder Jr. has had an exceptional season in the CFL and it has not gone unnoticed.

This can’t be the first time former FSU basketball player Dwayne Bacon has gotten some free stuff because of his surname.
