FSU’s Jacques Patrick discusses his tough running vs. Florida

It’s become a losing proposition to count out Florida State’s Jacques Patrick. Before the season, popular opinion held that it was simply a matter of when, and not if, freshman sensation Cam Akers would take his job. When Patrick had surgery in the middle of the season, we all knew that he’d be done for the year. And heading into Gainesville, it was Akers, not Patrick, who was supposed to gouge the Gators’ run defense.

But on Saturday, Patrick ran all over those assumptions like so many Florida defenders. And while 15 attempts for 67 yards isn’t a total that will grab many headlines, Patrick played like a man possessed, running around, through, an over would-be tacklers on several occasions. Patrick was also the Seminoles’ leading receiver— he hauled in three passes, and no other ’Nole had more than two receptions.

We caught up with Patrick after the game, and his interview is included below:
